About The Kankakee State Cemetery Index

This index reflects an ongoing review of publicly accessible records related to burials at the Kankakee State Hospital cemetery. It is primarily based on digitized materials from FamilySearch, which vary in accuracy and completeness. Because more than 44,000 documents must be examined—and only about 12,000 have been reviewed so far—the index remains provisional.

Entries may contain errors, inconsistencies, or unresolved identities due to common names, irregular spellings, and conflicting historical information. Each listing represents the most accurate interpretation possible at this stage of analysis.

The index will be updated as additional documents are reviewed and as new information or corrections are contributed. Its aim is to provide a working foundation for continued research into the cemetery and the individuals buried there.
