Memoria Manus Approach to Research
Before beginning any project, I believe in being transparent about what you can expect, including any potential delays. Most information I uncover comes from publicly accessible sources—some freely available, others requiring subscriptions, memberships, or formal requests. On occasion, research may also draw from private collections such as personal archives, letters, photographs, or documents shared directly by their owners. These materials can offer valuable insight, but they are not always publicly verifiable, and I honor the wishes of their owners regarding confidentiality. When a private collection is used, I note it clearly in the research, though the individual or institution providing access will remain unnamed unless they choose otherwise. Regardless of the source, I make every effort to evaluate the reliability and context of each record so that you understand both its value and its limitations. My goal is always to show how each piece of information contributes to the broader historical picture while maintaining respect for privacy and accuracy.
Genealogical & Lineage Research
My primary focus in genealogical work is tracing direct ancestral lines as far back as historical records, archival materials, and available DNA data will allow. To create a fuller and more human narrative, I often explore the lives of those connected to the main line—siblings, children, extended relatives, or others whose experiences help illuminate the broader family context. These connections frequently reveal patterns, migrations, and stories that deepen our understanding of the past.
Historical Projects & Individual Inquiries
For research requests that do not always involve building a family tree, such as investigating specific historical events, individuals, communities, places, or organizations, I approach the work with the same care and methodology. My goal is to uncover reliable information, trace relevant connections, and place findings within their historical and cultural framework so the story becomes clear and meaningful, even when no genealogical component is involved.
Sharing Findings
Every document, photograph, article, or historical detail I uncover is shared in full with the person or organization requesting the research. Nothing is withheld. Some discoveries may be unexpected or emotionally complex; history carries both triumphs and hardships, and part of this work involves honoring both with honesty and respect.
My Research Perspective
What sets my approach apart is the perspective I bring from my academic background in social psychology, research tools, and methods. I work to weave together evidence and context to form a thoughtful, coherent narrative. When the record leaves gaps, I may offer theoretical insights based on the cultural or societal landscape of the time and always clearly identified as interpretation rather than confirmed fact. Whether the story centers on a family line, a single individual, a community, a migration, or a long-standing historical question, my aim is to bring clarity, depth, and meaning to the past. It is a privilege to help uncover and preserve these histories.
